We’ve always struggled to keep up with AR. The rate of denials has been growing as the number of MA plans has risen and the Medicaid MCOs are even worse. It’s been a nightmare to staff since Covid and our costs are going up. The reality is that we were in a pretty deep hole and now our small team is doing amazing work. Not having to manually create work lists for everyone is huge. The bigger factor is how the system summarizes the account so that we usually don’t even have to research what happened in our system, we can just make a decision how to respond and move on.

We are essentially stuck using our EHR, even though none of us can stand how bad the reporting is. We tried implementing some BI tools a few years ago, but the level of effort to make it work as really high, and frankly, no one used it. We are still using spreadsheets to drive workflow and build deports for the executive team. We were excited to get our data into a tool that combined dashboards with work lists. We’ve really relied on using the dashboards to find pockets of claims that have an issue and address them in bulk. And the best part is I haven’t had to create a spreadsheet for leadership in months!
